Bathos

The key is right in front of you!

Bathos is the brain child of Johan Peitz and was crafted in 24 hours for the 21st Ludum Dare, a game developers challenge in which developers have 48 hours to single handedly craft a game from scratch based on a theme chosen by the participants.

The games objective is wonderfully simple, you must escape from the room you are in.  The key to your escape is, well, keys, or should I say the right key.  During your time in the room, which appears to be a prison cell of sorts, keys will fall from an opening in the ceiling and you are tasked with finding the correct one to open the door.

The beauty of this puzzler is that once you have the solution, you will kick yourself for not working it out sooner.  It seems impossible while you are trying to work it out but once you crack it, you will appreciate the simplicity of it all.

There’s not a lot more that can be said about the game apart from go and play it now by clicking here.  The final thing I can say is this game is bigger than your characters confines.  Think outside the room.

I played this a work and managed to open the door. Then played it again but didn’t know how I opened the door the first time. Now I have played it again at home and only figured it out because I got frustrated with not being able to open the door.

I think theres probably quite a lot of people that figured it out after a moment of frustration, nice challanging puzzle though
